Plicare means “Fold” in Latin. Our game takes place in a folded world. Character can travel between the past and the future of this world. Player needs to observe and take advantage of the differences between the past and future in this world to solve problems and eventually get the treasure.

The story is built in a remote village and castle, where there are legendary stories of warriors who defeated
the dragon and left a lot of treasures behind, but it produces an overlap of different points in time in the same world.
The project is built in the global game jam event in 2022, the theme of the global game jam is Duality, and
the game is the same world but the overlap of different points in time, my intention is to let people perceive the effect of the butterfly effect, an inadvertent change, may bring great effect.

GAME PLAY

Description

The E key and Q key provides the function of traveling through time, so players can switch time by pressing the E key. The difference between the worlds at two different points in time will provide a lot of information or shortcuts for players to collect and move the game forward.

Players will encounter events along the way that urgently require interaction, but often require the cooperation of two points in time, through the butterfly effect and thus solve the dilemma, players need to generate interaction through the F key

LEVEL DESIGN

Level 1 The Dungeon under the bridge

The first level is mainly players will encounter some obstacles leading to the path cannot pass, use the game conversion time mechanism to solve the obstacle blocking.

Level 2 Three Life Stones

The second level players will encounter several different symbols of the “three living stones”, the three living stones will be placed in their respective locations to solve the puzzle. The interaction in the dungeon will be more complex and even require multiple items to interact.

Two special symbols of stones need to be delivered to the opposite side, designed as a mechanism for trains to merge and split tracks. Players need to determine the real track direction based on the given railroad track information and use the rotating track direction to achieve the transport of stones.

Train Tracks Puzzle

I designed a puzzle using the principle of interlocking tracks. The player needs to get the stone to the other side, and the player needs to use a reasonable arrangement of the tracks so that they don’t clash.

Task Tips

The change of perspective has been new props and important items, allowing the player to get the information he needs to solve the puzzle.

Using the control system

This disc can come to choose the direction of the tracks, players need to choose a good direction, and press the other two buttons a stone to the appropriate location.

MUSIC DESIGN

I use logic pro to make two background music to two levels and completely different styles, the first level I more relevant to the game environment and the degree of danger, smooth music style can make players feel calm. However, in the second level of the dungeon is indeed a very different style of music, because the dungeon’s danger factor is greater, so the use of more rhythmic music to stimulate the player’s sense of urgency
